TuneSong Audio Samples are produced in-house via the flexible, sonorous and punchy deep satisfyingly richly textured single drum sounds, bass synth samples, and modular song-based DJ Loops.
The single sound samples may be used in production by other artists, and the DJ Loops are for live electronic performance DJ’s who include loops in their set with a groovebox or however they choose.
Ah, the MachineDrum mkII with the legendary 2.4mb of flash RAM. Much is accomplished merely by sampling a drum sound into the “UserWave” sample engine of this fine example of a generously imaginative instrument.
The jury has made their decision: it is essential to have a quality pair of studio monitor speakers. TuneSong studio crew are quite adventurous and so we opted for these portable fairly good quality and moderately economical monitors. And they look cool in the jungle with their cream-white casing.
Monitor with headphones to hear the subs that might go unnoticed during the song development session.
Also listen to the early wav exports on computer speakers and telephone speakers. It is possible that a perfectly balanced mix in context of the song instrumentation and arrangement may sound really good on all speaker formats.
Some artists may go for the “Phone EQ Balance Mix” to accompany their track release, it just depends… on genre, on how the vibe is.
This is a creative industry so it is encouraged to explore the options.
The time-honoured 3-band EQ on the traditional style DJ mixer is an immediate go-to when it becomes obvious the Machinedrum needs some areas of the sound spectrum tamed ever so slightly.
Even though the drum machine sampler has a “Master EQ” effect, that does in fact make a lot of difference to the vibe of the sound, it is also a lot of fun to use a DJ mixer’s EQ and to some degree, the pre-gain level, to influence the MD’s output.
These drum machines have gone sky-high to crazy-price-land as they are no longer made, and can pretty easily get a club or 20k festival stage rocking the house or scenario, so to speak. Just need to know how to get them configured for the warmth sound.
Re-Purposing musical equipment is fun and currently the 404mkII is functioning as a soundcard for a day or two. The quality is fabulous and it is nice to view the sampler sequencer displaying multifunction capacity.
